Welcome to the inaugural post of the official blog for The Slaughtered Lamb Cinema!
Last night we kicked off our mid-week programming with the pilot and first episode of the classic television show, Twin Peaks. The show holds up tremendously well as we approach it's twentieth anniversary. Watching it on the big screen was particularly interesting - from seeing Dr. Jacoby fondling his hula-girl tie to spotting Bob (Frank Silva) in the mirror when Mrs. Palmer has her vision. Here's a link to David Lynch discussing his decision to use Frank as 'Bob'.
We're looking forward to Wednesdays this year as we work our way through Twin Peaks and into other classic and less notable television series.
Last weekend also marked the first Mad Movie Party for 2008 with the Hi-def double feature of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and Alien. If you didn't make it, you missed a special night. Not to worry - our tribute to the Dunsmuir Mansion is only a few weeks away with the creepy double feature of Dan Curtis' Burnt Offerings and Don Coscarelli's Phantasm. Hmmm... same location, similar themes surrounding death, and both directors having the same initials. Conicidence? Look forward to this frightening pair on February 23rd!
I hope you'll use this blog as a forum for commenting on the features we watch and the events themselves. To quote Damian's nanny - "It's all for you..."
Cheers!
John
